Our editorial goal is to provide clear, useful, and responsible guidance about backyard birds in the United States. This page describes the standards we intend to apply to every guide published on Feather Yard Guide.
Accuracy and evidence
We favor primary conservation and wildlife sources, scientific institutions, and documented regional guidance. We identify species, food recommendations, habitat practices, and safety instructions as carefully as the available evidence allows. When a claim is region-specific or uncertain, the article should say so.
Authorship, review, and updates
Each article should identify its responsible author and publication date. Material changes should be reflected in an updated date. A published page should be fact-checked against cited sources before release; use of AI for drafting never substitutes for editorial verification.
Sources and attribution
Articles should link to the original source where helpful. Photos, illustrations, and audio require appropriate ownership or permission, with relevant credits. AI-generated images used for atmosphere are labeled and should never be presented as scientific documentation of a species.
Products, advertising, and affiliate relationships
Editorial recommendations should not be determined by potential commissions. Where advertising, sponsorship, or affiliate links are present, the relevant content will carry a clear disclosure near the recommendation or link. A claim of personal product testing requires evidence of an actual test.
Corrections
Readers can report possible inaccuracies by emailing contact@featheryardguide.com. We will review substantiated reports, correct meaningful errors, and update content when necessary. We do not guarantee a response to every message.
